CATIA (Computer Aided Three Dimensional Interactive Application) is a multi-platform CAD/CAM/CAE commercial software suite developed by Dassault Systems. This software was originally intended for the development of Dassault's Mirage fighter jet, but was so successful that it was eventually adopted by numerous companies world-wide. The software was also by world famous architect Frank Gehry in his building of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
Catia is considered a 3D Product Lifecycle Management software technology. CATIA supports multiple stages of product development. The stages of development range from concept, through design (CAD) and manufacturing (CAM), until final analysis (CAE).
